KITTRELL- Albert Vernon "Pug" Dickerson, 81, of N. Chavis Road, died Friday, July 10, 2020 at his home.Born in Vance County, on July 10, 1939, he was the son of the late Samuel Roy Dickerson and Essie Brummitt Dickerson and was the widower of Jewel Pulley Dickerson.He was retired from Parker Hannifin where he was a supervisor, was also a tobacco farmer and enjoyed working on his rental properties.Pug was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 35 years, was a Sunday School teacher and a choir member.He also was a member of the John H. Mills Masonic Lodge #624 and the Henderson Shrine Club.
A private graveside funeral service will be held Sunday, July 12, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Henry Abbott.
He is survived by a daughter, Dianne D. Schmidt and husband, Eric of Raleigh; a son, Michael W. Dickerson and wife, Donna, of Kittrell; nine grandchildren, Wayne, John, Danielle, Justin, Melissa, Candace, Stephen, Kelly and Leah; six great-grandchildren, Isabella, Jacob, Charlie, Ruby, Silas and Paisley; a sister, Mary Jane Capps of Raleigh; and four special caregivers, Francine, April, Leona and Tori.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Wayne Dickerson; three brothers, Lynwood Dickerson, Nelson Dickerson and Charles Dickerson; and three sisters, Dorothy Woodlief, Christine Forsythe and Marjorie Dixon.
