Henderson- Alice Frances Newman Lawson, age 79, a resident of Henderson, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 following a lengthy illness. Born in Vance County on April 11, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Clifton Newman and Amy Roberson Newman.She was a homemaker and member of Calvary Baptist Church.Funeral services will be held Monday, October 27, 2014, at 2 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Gene Wood.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Mrs. Lawson is survived by her son, Michael Clay Lawson and wife Gara of Midlothian, VA; a grandson, Matthew Briggs Lawson; and a granddaughter, Samantha Kaitlyn Lawson.
She was preceded in death by a son, Clifton Briggs CB Lawson; and three brothers, Harold C. Newman, John William J.W. Newman and Ralph Benny Newman.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 till 2pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Mike Catlett, Charles Ayscue, Tony Allen, Charles Jones, Billy Overton, Lee Roy Parrish and Gary Pulley.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, PO Box 647 Henderson NC 27536.
