Alma Louise Franklin Dillard, age 96, a resident of Brookston Rd., died Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham. Born in Vance Co. on October 11, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George Arthur Franklin, Sr. and Catherine Louise Ross Franklin and was the widow of Russell King Dillard. Mrs. Dillard was a lifetime member of Brookston Presbyterian Church where she served as the treasurer of the Building Fund and was very active in the daily operations and functions of the church. A private graveside service will be held Sunday, July 24th in the Middleburg Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 2:15 PM at Brookston Presbyterian Church by Dr. Ronn McCracken. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in the Fellowship Hall at Brookston Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Dillard Stewart (Neal) of Cary and Marsha Dillard Harris of Henderson; one son, Russell Franklin Dillard (Louise) of Wilson; five grandchildren, David Stewart (Rebecca), Dr. Kevin Harris (Kelley), Sarah Stump (Bo), Gillian Dillard and Laura Stewart; one great granddaughter, Catherine Love Stump; three sisters-in-law, Carol Ann Franklin, Alma Jo Franklin and Helen K. Franklin. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, G. A. Franklin Jr., James E. Franklin, William “Bobby” Franklin and Charles Franklin; two sisters, Edith F. Lewis and Mary F. Zienty.
