HENDERSON-Alton Patterson, 81, a resident of 175 Brookhaven Court, died Sunday, November 28, 2021, in a local nursing home. Born on December 23, 1939 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Nathan T. Patterson and Golden Abbott Patterson. He was retired from Variety Wholesalers as well as a retired tobacco farmer. Alton was a founding member of Clearview Church where he was a Trustee and former longtime church treasurer. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00PM at Clearview Church by Rev. Abidan Shah. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Weaver Patterson of the home; one daughter, Karen Patterson Hock (Todd) of Youngsville; one son, Ray Patterson of Youngsville; four grandchildren, Amanda Barker (Alex), Christopher Hock (Lauren), Chelsa Patterson Johnson (Jon), and Taylor Elliott; three great grandchildren, Sylar Barker, Carson Barker and Rylee Hock; two sisters, Joan Williamson and Shirley Perkinson; Rebecca Shah, Abigail Shah, Nicholas Shah and Thomas Shah, who he thought of as his grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Jean Pegram, Cora Lee Hillard, and Deborah Williamson; and one brother, Tommy Patterson, Sr. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 till 2:00 PM at Clearview and at other times they will be at the home. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Hock, Ken Patterson, Zane Patterson, Joseph Parrish, Josh Parrish, Alex Barker, David Pegram and Scott Williamson.
