HOLLY SPRINGS-Andrew Thomas "Drew" Elwell, age 14, a resident of 121 Canterwood Drive, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Wake Medical Center.Born on May 15, 2000 in Lewisville, Texas, he was the son of Tom and Melany Elwell.Drew was an 8th grade student at Holly Ridge Middle School in Holly Springs.He loved swimming, running, basketball, and riding his scooter.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday at 11 am in the Family Life Center at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church, 1699 Weldons Mill Road, Henderson, NC 27537, by the Rev. Tim Burgess and Pastor Will Breedlove.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Morgan Elwell; and one brother, Pierce Elwell of the home; his maternal grandparents, Danny and Betty Wright of Henderson; his paternal grandparents, Richard Thomas Elwell of Belleview, FL and Agnes Marie Elwell of Northfield, VT; his maternal great grandmother, Annie B. Coghill of Henderson; his aunts, Dana Fields and husband, Scott of Wake Forest and Jaime Bradley and husband John of McKinney, Texas; his uncle, Richard Crosby Elwell of Manchester, New Hampshire; and five cousins, Nicholas Fields, Jackson Fields, Coleson Fields, Harper Bradley, and Hayes Bradley.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Levi Baker, Christopher CJ Davis, Michael Mick Doriani, Patrick Falaro, Nicholas Fields, Scott Fields, Tony Salerno and John Sampson.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to 3 Irish Jewels Farm, an Autism AdvocacyOrganization, 304 Allenhurst Place, Cary, NC27518. www.3irishjewelsfarm.org.
Drew passed away on World Autism Awareness Day.The family asks that everyone please wear blue in honor of this, which was Drews favorite color.
