KITTRELL-- Andrew "Andy" Clyde Hedgepeth, 75, of Rocky Mount, formerly of Kittrell, died Friday, April 10, 2020, at a hospital in Rocky Mount. Andy was born in Vance County on October 29, 1944. He was a 1963 graduate of the former Zeb Vance High School, a graduate of Louisburg College, North Carolina Wesleyan College and received his MBA from Campbell University. He was a retired central office technician with CenturyLink Telephone Company, where he was employed
for 38 years. Andy was a talented guitar player and had played with many different local bands over the years. He was a third-generation member of the Hedgepeth Band, played with the County Line Band in the late 70's, and The Country Cut-Ups in the early 80's. He was also a member of the former Epsom Square Dancers. More recently, Andy had played with several different bands in the Rocky Mount area.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions the family plans to hold a memorial service at a later date.
Andy is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and RC Creech Jr.; a grandson Andrew Hunter Creech, and granddaughter, Lana Leigh Creech, a step-granddaughter Kimberly Creech Edwards and her husband, Derick and their children. Also surviving are his brother-in-law, Charles Edwards; and sister-in-law, Lou Ellen Edwards, niece Elizabeth Edwards and nephew, Norman Edwards. Special family members Martha Hedgepeth, Dottie Crocker, Gwen Floyd and Hannah Edwards are also survivors as well as many Hedgepeth cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Edward "Ed" Hedgepeth, and parents Betty and Clyde Hedgepeth, and brother-in-law, Lewis Edwards.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
