HENDERSON- Anita Mary Simanson Peoples, 85, of 5218 Vicksboro Road, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Senior Citizen Nursing Home in Henderson. She was born in Milwaukee, WI to the late Joseph Simanson and Stella Mae Brown Simanson. Around the age of 11, the family moved to Indiana where she spent the rest of her childhood. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James “Jim” Harvey Peoples, Jr., a granddaughter, Brittany Lynn Crabtree and her beloved daughter-in-law, Bernadette “Bernie” Crabtree. Anita was a homemaker for most of her life. She loved the Lord and her family with all of her heart. Many of her fondest memories were spending quality time with her family and friends. She loved animals. She was a wonderful cook and prepared many delicious meals for her family. She loved playing games. Yahtzee being one of her favorites. She will forever be remembered as shouting “Yatzee babeeeee!” She was a member of Gift of Life church for many years. During her time in the nursing home, she attended services there and thought so much of Pastor Williams and his wife. Kim, Jackie, and Gladys were a few favorites that took care of her in the nursing home that she mentioned quite often. Anita is survived by her children, Robert “Sonny” Crabtree, Jr. (JoAnne), James “Jimmy” Peoples, III, (Rachel), Michael “Mike” Peoples, (Lisa), and Kathy Estes (Steve). Grandchildren – Robert “Bobby” Crabtree, (Angie), Anthony “Tony” Crabtree, Melissa Crabtree, James “Jamie” Peoples, Crystal Ayscue, (Steven), April Phelps (Justin), Jill Robinson (Charles), Ashley Pawelczyk, (Matt), Pamela Murillo, (Fausto), and Steven Estes. She also loved her great grandchildren- Chasely, Royce, Anthony (Ace), Bernadette aka Little B, Amber (Tyler), James (Evin), Callie, Logan, Michaela, Jay, Caitlin, Charley, Anna Kate, Ethan, Olivia, Bianca, Lexie, Fausto, Stephanie Jo and Liliana. She has one great-great granddaughter- Leighton Pegram whom she adored. Anita was the ninth of 12 children. She is survived by her only living sister, Fay Roop. She has many nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored. A private Celebration of Life memorial service for family and friends will be held at 304 Joe Ward Road, Louisburg. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
