ANN E. DICKIE-Ann Evans Dickie, 98, died Sunday, August 11, 2019 in a local nursing home. Born in Vance County on July 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Annie Laura Pirie Evans and Melville Gregory Evans, and was the widow George Thomas Dickie.Mrs. Dickie was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Henderson.She was a graduate of Henderson High School and attended Peace College.After college she worked in the home office of Roses Stores in the accounting department.She later worked at the Henderson Daily Dispatch.Mrs. Dickie was involved with a number of organizations in Henderson.She was a volunteer with the Henderson Salvation Army and the Meals on Wheels program.Through her church, she worked with the Vance County Department of Social Services to provide clothing to those in need.Mrs. Dickie was an artist and craftsperson.She enjoyed exhibiting her work in local art and craft shows.She was supportive of other artists and encouraged them to further their craft.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church by Rev. Matthew Copple on Saturday, August 31st , 2019 at 11:00 AM.
Mrs. Dickie is survived by her daughter, Martha Macon Dickie, and her son, Gregory Thomas Dickie and his wife, Elizabeth Doane Dickie; her grandchildren, Laura Reid Dickie and James Grant Dickie and his wife, Elizabeth Diggs Graeber; her great grandson, Bennett Burgess Dickie; her sister-in-law, Emma Lee Hawkins Dickie, two nieces, and four nephews.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
