HENDERSON- Ann Christian Macdougall Ellis, 100, of Oakridge Ave., died Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at her home. Born May 10, 1922 in Newport News, VA, she was the daughter of the late Louis Rawlings Macdougall and Jessie Burns Hutchinson Macdougall. She was a member of The Church of The Holy Innocents where she sang in the choir and was active with many church activities including the Hispanic Ministry. Ann was also a member of the Sertoma Club and the Women of the Moose. She was well known for her pineapple upside-down Christmas tree cakes that she faithfully made and delivered to the Henderson Fire Department, Henderson Police Department and Vance County Sheriff’s Department. She retired after 51 years of work as a legal secretary at Zollicoffer Law Office. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at The Church of The Holy Innocents by Rev. Dan Barker. She is survived by her son, Berkeley Ellis and wife, Linda of Henderson; her daughter, Sandra Stancil and husband, Eddie of Henderson; five grandchildren, Edward Stancil, Susann Elliott, Karen Rollinson, William Stancil and Thomas Stancil; and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Ellis. The family will receive friends following the service on Thursday in the fellowship hall of Holy Innocents and at other times at the home, 1270 Oakridge Ave. Henderson, NC 27536.
