Ann Petty Tharrington, 75, of Wilson, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012. The daughter of the late Thomas Henry Garrett and Clara Belle Watts Garrett, Ann was born May 8th, 1936 in Belmont, NC.A member of First Presbyterian Church in Henderson, Mrs. Tharrington later appreciated the Hayes Barton Baptist Church Sunday morning broadcasts.Mrs. Tharrington enjoyed many activities some of which included tennis, Bridge, water aerobics and gardening.Her greatest joys in life were her girls and her grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 29th, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church Henderson conducted by Rev. Dr. Marion Lark.
She is survived by her husband, Owen Keith Tharrington, Jr. of the home; two daughters, Lisa Petty and husband Rick Sullivan of Cary and Laura Hubbard and husband Chris also of Cary; one step-daughter, Lisa Tharrington Bolton and husband Bill of Louisburg; one sister, Rennie Auten and husband Charles of Charlotte; and seven grandchildren, Clare Hubbard, Tom Hubbard, Erin Sullivan, Ryan Sullivan, Tyler Bolton, Whitney Bolton, and Cale Bolton.Mrs. Tharrington was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Petty.
The family will receive friends in the parlor of First Baptist Church, Henderson, immediately following the memorial service on Wednesday.
