HENDERSON-Anna Leigh Hicks Finch, age 82, a resident of 1715 Summitt Road, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on December 8, 1929 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Hall Hicks and Irma Clarke Hicks.Leigh was a retired school teacher at Clark Street Elementary School where she taught for 20 years.She was a member of First United Methodist Church where for many years sheplayed the piano in the childrens Sunday School Department.She was also a member of the Sans Souci Club.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church by Dr. John M. Check.Burial will follow in the Island Creek BaptistChurch Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles Walker Finch of the home; one son, Hal Walker Finch and wife, Deborah of Henderson; two grandchildren, John Walker Finch and wife, Jamie and Deborah Leigh Finch Holtzman and husband, Kyle; and a niece, Debra Creighton Daniel.She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy H. Daniel.
The family will receive friends at the home at 1715 Summitt Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Mike Rainey, John Norwood, Thurston Hicks, Jim Bootebaugh, Jim Beck, George Hoyle, and Tony Hicks.Serving as honorary pall bearers will be Donald Gupton, Donald Seifert, Greg Griggs, Dr. Franklin Mills, and Quitman Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 114 Church Street, Henderson, NC, 27536.
