HENDERSON- Anna Mae Bruin Gerber, age 91, a resident of Senior Citizens, died Monday, January 13, 2014.Born on January 22, 1922 in Statesville, NC she was the daughter of the late Ralph Ware and Mary Cannon Bruin.She was the widow of George Daniel Gerber.
Mrs. Gerber grew up in Henderson, attended Henderson schools, graduating from Henderson High School, Class of 1939.She was a graduate of Peace Junior College and Queens College.She was an employee of First National Bank for seven years, and for 18 years was Education Director of the FVW Head Start program.She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church Henderson conducted by Rev. Keith Benze.
She is survived by a son, Daniel Bruin Gerber of Macon, NC; a sister, Elizabeth Christopher of Wake Forest; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Stephenson Gerber of Henderson; three grandchildren, Tracie Gerber Jones of Yorktown, VA, Katie Gerber of Henderson, and Daniel Gerber of Raleigh; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph William "Bill" Gerber and a sister, Mary Ware Blamire.
The family will receive friends Wednesday in the First Presbyterian Church parlor immediately following the service.
