Annice Mitchell Cannady

HENDERSON- Mrs. Annice Mitchell Cannady, age 90, a resident of Red Bud Circle, died Thursday November 19, 2015 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Granville County on September 30, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ollie Blaine "O.B." Mitchell and Pearl Brummitt Mitchell. Mrs. Cannady was a graduate of UNC-Greensboro and retired from the Vance County School System after teaching at E.M. Rollins School for more than 30 years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Henderson, a member of the Ladies Evening Mission Fellowship and served on the churchs Historical Committee. She was also a member of the Vance County Genealogical Society, Friends of The H. Leslie Perry Memorial Library, and Delta Kappa Gama.She was also an avid bridge player.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church by Dr. Ronald S. Cava.A private burial will be held by the family.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Fagan Cheatham Goodwin and husband, James and Joel Thomas Cheatham, IV and wife, Nikki all of Henderson; a great-grandson, Samuel Oscar Goodwin; her son-in-law, Joel Thomas Cheatham, III and wife Jan of Henderson; and a step grandson, Christopher Tyler Brewer of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Watson Cannady and her daughter, Annice Cannady Cheatham.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church and at other times they will be at the home of Bo and Jan Cheatham, 2105 Fernbrook Place.
