Anthony "Pete" Leon Barker

OXFORD- Anthony Leon “Pete” Barker, 65, of Barker Road, died Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Duke University Hospital. Born February 15, 1959 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Nancy Reavis Barker and Lucius Leon Barker, Jr. He recently retired from Variety Wholesalers where he was a shipping manager. Pete was a member of Dexter Baptist Church and an avid gun collector. He also enjoyed spending time with his sidekick Aiden “Peter Rabbit.” Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 4:00 P.M. at Dexter Baptist Church by Rev. Wayne Clark, Rev. Robert Greene and Rev. Cam Greene. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pete is survived by his wife, Sandra Greene Barker, of the home; three daughters, Robin Barker Thomas of Oxford, Christian Barker Briggs and husband, Brad of Henderson, and Sammy Jo Barker Dickerson and husband, Doug of Oxford; four grandchildren, Madison Thomas, Aiden Thomas, Austin Briggs and Blake Briggs; a sister, Rose Harris and husband, Tommy and a brother, Bailey Barker and wife, Lisa, all of Oxford; and a grand-dog, Moose “Trump” Dickerson. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:30 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at Dexter Baptist Church and at other times (beginning mid-day, Tuesday) at the home of Sammy Jo and Doug Dickerson, 4014 Chewning Road, Oxford, NC 27565. Serving as pallbearers will be Cameron Sanford, Dylan Sanford, Chase Greene, Jackson Barker, Kevin Pendergrass, Bonnie Norwood, Bailey Barker and Aiden Barker.
