Barbara Carr Davis

HICKSBORO- Barbara Ann Carr Davis, 79, of Burnside Road, died Monday, March 20, 2023 at her home. Born April 27, 1943 in Person County she was the daughter of the late Annie Belle Hubbard Carr and Clyde Thomas Carr and was the widow of Terry Walker Davis. She retired from Progress Energy where she worked as an administrative assistant. Barbara was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church, the Hassie Clark Sunday School class and served as the church secretary for several years. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Island Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Johnny Yount and Rev. Marshall Neathery. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Barbara is survived by her son, Andy Davis and her daughter, Jennifer Davis Meeks and husband, Stephen, all of Hicksboro; three grandchildren, Morgan Brittaney Davis Frazier, Jackson Elliott Meeks and Owen Walker Meeks; a great grandson, Luke Reynolds Frazier; a sister-in-law, Wanda Carr; and three long-term caregivers, Louise Boyd, Peggy Harris and Kristie Lassiter. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ryan Beckham Davis; and three brothers, Leon Stanley Carr, Phillip Thomas Carr and Algie Ray Carr. The family will receive friends following the service on Thursday at Island Creek Baptist Church and at other times at her home, 1889 Burnside Road, Oxford, NC 27565. Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Davis, Stephen Meeks, Jackson Meeks, Owen Meeks, Chad Frazier and Brian Moseley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ryan Davis Scholarship Fund at Island Creek Baptist Church, 950 Stagecoach Road, Henderson NC 27537.
