Barbara J. May Dillard of 739 Hicksboro Road, Henderson, NC passed away April 21, 2017 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Kemp H. May and Lila S. May Jackson and the widow of the Charles H. Dillard. She is survived by a sister, Velvet M. Woodlief, two sons, Franklin H. Dillard and Russell S. Dillard of the home, one daughter, Delores D. Ayscue and husband, Joseph Ayscue all of Henderson; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles C. Dillard. Mrs. Dillard was a member of the l949 graduating class of the former Henderson High School. She furthered her education by obtaining a LPN and an RN degree from Vance Granville Community College. She was employed at Murdoch Center and retired from John Umstead Hospital in Butner, NC. She was a member of the Bowling-Wood United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Capt. James Currin Daughters of the American Revolution in Butner, NC She was a member of the Manchester Terrier Club of America, Durham Kennel Club was also a lifetime member of the National Dog Groomers Assoc. of America.Mrs. Dillard was actively engaged in the breeding and exhibiting of purebred dogs. She began exhibiting in1954, and throughout her life, she traveled to dogs shows from Westminster in New York, and others along the eastern seaboard from Vermont to Florida and westward to Oklahoma, Texas and California. She obtained numerous championship and obedience titles on her beloved pets.
