Barbara Neathery Davis, age 72, a resident of 4444 Glebe Road, died Sunday, November 21, 2010 at her home after a lengthy battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).Born in Vance County on November 11, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Brodie Neathery and Blanche Nethery Neathery.Barbara was retired from Vance Granville Community College where she was an Assistant in the AVT Lab; before retiring she worked at Carolina Telephone and Telegraph for nine years, was a Bus Driver for Kerr Lake School, and a Homemaker.
She was a lifetime member of Island Creek Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, was the childrens choir director, Beginner Class Sunday school teacher; and for many years was the pianist and organist, and also active in the WMU.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at Island Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Marshall Neathery.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, H. Ray Davis, of the home; one daughter, Heather Davis Greiter and husband, Blake, of Wake Forest; two sons, Hal Daniel Davis and wife, Pam, of Youngsville, and Heath Neathery Davis and wife, Kim, of Henderson; two sisters, Donnie N. Lamberth of Midlothian, VA and Yvonne N. Phelps of Henderson; two brothers, Doug Neathery and Farrell Neathery both of Henderson; four grandchildren, Cassidy Erin Davis, Connor Daniel Davis, Lilly Blake Greiter, and Brodie Davis Greiter.She was preceded in death by one sister, Frances N. Overby.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 4444 Glebe Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Dale Pernell, Jonathan Pernell, Brent Pernell, Chad Watkins, Johnny Riggan and John Rice.Serving as honorary pall bearers will be all members of the G. W. Norwood Sunday School Class.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Island Creek Baptist Church, 950 Stagecoach Road, Henderson, N. C.27537.
