HENDERSON – Barbara Jean Langston Stainback, 90, a resident of Allison Cooper Road, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 2, 2025. Born on October 15, 1934, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edgar Langston and Rosa Pergerson Langston. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Turner G. Stainback, Jr. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Stainback dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a long-time member of Cokesbury Methodist Church, where she remained active for 72 years. Barbara found joy in volunteering at both her church and Maria Parham Hospital. She was also a former square dancer and a talented amateur artist. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Cokesbury Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Mike Edmondson and the Rev. Matt Evans. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She is survived by her son, Michael Thomas Stainback and his wife, Frances Finlen Stainback, of Birmingham, AL; her daughter, Bonnie Rose Stainback Davis of Henderson; and her grandchildren: Michael Turner Stainback (Kristen Ellington Stainback) of Roswell, GA; Sarah Stainback Oakes (James W. Oakes) of Helena, AL; Jason Grissom (Dana Hughes Grissom) of Nashville, TN; Chris Davis (Jaime Davis) of Wake Forest; Scott Davis (Swan Davis) of Denver, CO; and Josh Davis (Ashley Davis) of Youngsville. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren: Charlie Stainback, Ellie Stainback, Turner Oakes, Will Davis, Harris Merkle, Quinn Merkle, Silas Hughes-Grissom, Joy Hughes-Grissom, and Yates Davis. In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Don Davis, and her sister, Rosa “Ree” Langston Wright. Pallbearers will be Brian Hobgood, Bill Atkinson, Steven Moss, Dale Fleming, Farmer (Wayne) Clayton, and Mike Grissom. Honorary pall bearers will be Richard Stainback, Dale Moss, and Carl Ray Hobgood The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall of Cokesbury Methodist Church.
