CONCORD- Beulah Barnes Moore Harris, Bebe, passed away on October 27, 2019 in Concord.Bebe was born to Albert H. Moore and Mildred Barnes Moore in Henderson on February 8, 1945.She was the valedictorian of the Henderson High School Class of 1963 and a 1967 graduate of Salem College in Winston-Salem.She is survived by her son David A. Harris, his wife, Ashley, and granddaughter, Mallory of Huntersville.
Bebe started her adult life covering the medical beat for the Raleigh News and Observer and later the Charlotte Observer.
She moved to Danville, VA, where she worked as the communications director for Averett University.There she also assisted with student publications.After moving with her family to Durham, she was employed by the School of Divinity at Duke University.She later worked at the East Campus Library at Duke.
Bebe enjoyed being part of the church community.She was reared as part of the First Baptist Church of Henderson.In Danville she was a member of the First Baptist Church, and in Durham she belonged to Epworth Methodist Church and later Watts Street Baptist Church.
After a private ceremony, Bebe was buried next to her parents and sister, Annella Rockson, in Elmwood Cemetery in Henderson.
