HENDERSON- Mrs. Belva Blue Harris, age 99, a resident of Senior Citizens Nursing Home died Tuesday December 17, 2013.Born on July 5, 1914 in Durham County she was the daughter of the late Obie J. Blue and Emma Gates Blue and the widow of Willie Lee "Pete" Harris.She was a retired LPN.Mrs. Harris was a member of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church and the Ed Blue Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Tim Burgess. Burial will follow at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by a son, Jerry Harris of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Iris B. Simmons of Henderson and Adell B. Faulkner of Wilson; two brothers, A. Preston Blue of Wilmington and Edward D. Blue of Henderson; two grandsons, James Vann of Raleigh and Craig Vann of Roxboro; and a very special friend, Teresa Roberson.
She was preceded in death by one son, Obie Mason Vann; three brothers, Henry Blue, Vernon Blue, and Clayborn Blue.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Steve and Lisa Simmons, 725 Horseshoe Bend Rd., Henderson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Mrs. Harris nephews, Eddie Blue, Charles Blue, Barry Faulkner, Steve Simmons, Keith Simmons, Phillip Simmons, Michael Blue and Daryl Faulkner.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New Sandy Creek Baptist Family Life Center Fund, 1699 Weldons Mill Rd, Henderson, 27537.
