HENDERSON-Berry Bryan Beasley, age 86, a resident of 1325 N. Lynnbank Road, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at his home.Born in Franklin, Tennessee on January 6, 1924, he was the son of the late William Max and Lena Dodd Beasley.He was a faithful member of the Henderson Church Of Christ where he served as Elder.He retired from the Henderson United States Post Office after 26 1/2 years, He was a World War II Veteran and served in the United States Navy.He was a member of the American Legion Post # 60, serving twice as Commander as well as Commander on the District level.He worked diligently on the Oratorical Committee and Boys State.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 31st, at J. M. White Funeral Home.Officiating will be Ed Woodhouse, Wesley Crews and George Boyd.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth Woods Beasley; two daughters, Karen Fly and husband, Jamie of Henderson and Sarah Beasley of Tallahassee, Florida; one grandson, Casey James Bryan Fly of Greenville; two sisters, Dorothy McArthur and husband, Marvin of Franklin, TN and Louise Cook of S. Pittsburg, TN; three sisters-in-law, Jane Beasley, Lucy Wilson, and Ruby Woods; caregivers, Flo Wilson, Patricia Wynn, and Tracy Kingsberry.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Beasley and Jay Beasley; and two sisters, Elizabeth Boyd and Frances Beasley.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 30th, from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 1325 N. Lynnbank Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Curtis Nelson, Richard Boyd, James Boyd, Frank Boyd, Mike Beasley, Gary Beasley, Jamie Beasley, and James Harrison.Serving as honorary pall bearers will be Jimmy Lawrence, Doug Falkner, Steve Falkner, David Harper, Brian Harper, Cleacy Collins, and all retired postal employees.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 60, Boys State, c/o Ed Blue, 2033 Weldons Mill Road, Henderson, N. C. 27537, or to Community Home Care & Hospice, 1242 Dabney Drive, Henderson, N. C.27536.
