HENDERSON- Mrs. Bertha Wilson Woltz, age 86, a resident of Henderson, died Saturday June 27, 2015 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.Born on February 27, 1929 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Elbert Wilson and Bertha Jewel Evans Wilson.
Mrs. Woltz was a 1946 graduate of Henderson High School and 1950 Cum Laude graduate of Meredith College. After teaching English for over 50 years, she retired from the Vance County School System.The schools she taught at included Dabney, Henderson Junior High School, Northern Vance High School, Townsville High School, Vance Academy, Vance Granville Community College, and Zeb Vance.She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a former choir member andSunday School teacher. She was also a member of the former Henderson Womans Club, formerly sang in the Northeast Piedmont Chorale, and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma of which she was past president.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 2 pm at St. Johns Episcopal Church on Stagecoach Road in Williamsboro with the Rev. Marshall Neathery officiating.
She is survived by two sons, William A. Woltz (Jenni Elion) of Raleigh and Mark H. Woltz (Sandra) of Henderson; six grandchildren, Megan Woltz, Rebecca Woltz, Grant Woltz, Luke Woltz, Logan Woltz and Lucah Woltz; a niece, Barbara Risley and a nephew, Billy Fuller.
Mrs. Woltz was preceded in death by her husband, Hamilton Harris Woltz; a son, Stephen H. Woltz; and two sisters, Frances Fuller and Margaret Glover.
The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
