Bessie Harris Hester

Bessie Harris Hester, age 92, a resident of 120 Parham Road, died Saturday, February 15, 2014, in a local nursing home.Born on November 3, 1921 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Phil Thomas Harris and Bessie Ross Harris, and was the widow of Furney Green Hester, Jr.
Mrs. Hester was a member of Spring Valley United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Calvin Dickenson and Rev. Henry Lovelace.
Burial will follow in Flat Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Judith Virginia Hester of Henderson; two sons, Ralph Thomas Hester and wife, Betty of Henderson; and John Allen Hester of Piedmont, SC.; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Monday prior to the service from 12:30 until 2 pmat J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at her home
Serving as active pall bearers will be Thomas Hester, Allen Hester, David Hester, Kelly Hester, Daniel Hester, J. T. Smith, Andrew Hester, Luke Hester, and Walker Smith.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Spring Valley United Methodist, 955 Spring Valley Rd., Henderson NC 27537.
