Betty Robinson Childress

WAKE FOREST- Mrs. Betty Robinson Childress, 86, of Wake Forest died Friday, September 8, 2023 at her home. She was born October 7, 1936, in Chester County, South Carolina. She was a member of the N.C. Association of Municipal Clerks, where she served as a past President. She retired from the position of City Clerk for the City of Laurinburg after 30 years of service with the city. After her retirement from the city, she served as a Legislative Assistant with the N.C. General Assembly for 14 years. She is survived by her son, David Covington (Sherry) of New Bern and two daughters, Kathy Brafford (Mike) of Henderson and Frankie Fehlman of Laurinburg; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Harmon Childress. To honor her wishes, no services will be held.
