Betty Elizabeth Overby Kearney

HENDERSON-Betty Elizabeth Overby Kearney, age 90, a resident of 50 Martin Creek Road, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013, in a local nursing home.Born on March 6, 1923 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Sam Overby and Dora Holmes Overby, and was the widow of Willie Lee Kearney.
Mrs. Kearney was a homemaker and a member of Ebernezer United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 am at Plank Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Julia Alliger.
She is survived by four daughters, Susan Perkinson and husband, Henry of Henderson, Marie Newhouse and husband, George of Henderson, Sandra Roberson and husband, Danny of Olathe, KS, and Shirley Oakley and husband, Graham of Suwanee, GA; two sons, Dennis Kearney and wife, Robin of Spring Hope, and John Lee Buck Kearney and wife, Margaret of Henderson; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 14 great great grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Leonard, four sisters, Annie Edwards, Gladys Parrish, Ethel Smith, and Nellie Shearin; and two brothers, Wilbert Overby and J. B. Overby.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Marie and George Newhouse at 327 Franklin Road, off Vicksboro Road.
