HENDERSON- Mrs. Betty Gupton Furniss, 71, of Yowland Road, died Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at her home. Born in Vance County on March 20, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Alvin David Gupton and Virginia O’Neal Gupton and was the widow of Charles Randolph Furniss, Sr. She was the owner and operator of the former Gupton’s Sporting Goods and was a member of Crystal River Church of God where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Crystal River Church of God by Rev. Charles Ray Anderson. Burial will follow at Middleburg Cemetery. She is survived by her son, Steven Scott Roberson of the home; a step-daughter, Deborah Perry (Russ) of Clarksville, MD; a step-son, Charles Randolph Furniss, Jr. (Wendy) of Richmond, VA; a sister, Lindy G. Marshall of Henderson; two brothers, Fenner Gupton (Janice) of Rocky Mount and David Gupton (Bonnie) of Henderson; and five grandchildren, Ashleigh Perry, Keelin Perry, Arden Perry, Kinsey Perry, and Charles R. “Trey” Furniss, III. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Stanley and Christie Bostick. Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Anderson, Jacob Anderson, David Wallace, Jamie Waddle, Anthony Clark, Hill Davis and Greg Gupton. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jackson Anderson and Wesley Anderson. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at Crystal River Church of God.
