Betty Beal Hope

HENDERSON- Betty Jean Beal Hope, 79, of Steed Dickerson Road, died Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Maria Parham Health. Born September 15, 1944 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Mary Frances Short Beal and Lewis Walter Beal, Sr. and was the widow of Ernest Allen “Ernie” Hope, Jr. She was a member of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church where she found great joy in being an active choir member. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home by Rev. Tim Burgess. Burial will follow in the Flat Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery. Betty is survived by three sisters, Bessie B. Wortham, June B. Overby, and Mary Ann B. Allison, all of Henderson; a brother, Bruce Beal and wife, Polly of Henderson; eight nieces, Tammy Fuller, Kathy Beal, Melissa Nowell, Jackie Cornish, Denise Grissom, Courtney Beal, Candy Moore and Kathy Bolton; seven nephews, Jimmy Faulkner, Walter Beal, Dennis Watkins, Charlie Brown, Keith Brown, Keith Beal and Dennis Overby; numerous great-nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Susie K. Beal and Mary Frances Bowen; and a brother-in-law, Robert Bowen, all of Henderson. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn B. Jackson; three brothers, Lewis Beal, Jr., John Beal and Frank Beal; a niece, Gloria Faulkner; and two nephews, Robbie Watkins and Kevin Beal. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Candy and Chris Moore. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Bolton, Dennis Overby, Walter Beal, Will Breedlove, Tim Newton, and William Bolton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Flat Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Willie Veldkamp, 2560 Satterwhite Point Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
