Betty Jean Preddy, aged 92, of Oxford, NC, passed away in her home on June 26, 2025. Born on July 6, 1932, Betty was a source of joy and adventure to all who knew her. Betty spent her life dedicated to her family as a loving homemaker. She was married to Troy Preddy for 68 years. Together, they raised their children, Sue (Chuck) Reddick and Walter (Laurie) Preddy, nurturing a family that would grow to include cherished grandchildren Kathryn (Craig) Fairhurst and Max Reddick, and a great-grandchild, Reid Fairhurst. Betty was the heart of her home, filling it with love and care. She had a vibrant personality, always ready to embark on a new adventure or to share a hilarious story about those adventures. Her hobbies included sewing, decorating, playing games, reading recipe books and traveling each a testament to her creative spirit, strength of character and zest for life that she learned from her mother and Aunts. A faithful member of Corinth Baptist Church, Betty was deeply involved in her church community, where she also found a spiritual home for her generous heart and soul. She was a member of the choir, woman's missionary group and adult Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Vester Gupton, her sister, Jackie Ivey, and brother, Jimmy Gupton. Her legacy is carried on by her loving family and all who were blessed to have her in their lives. A visitation will be held on July 2 at 10 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church in Oxford, NC. Flowers are welcomed; however, the family suggests that donations may be made to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers, honoring Betty's giving spirit.
