HENDERSON-Betty Tart Short, 77, a resident of 558 Wayview Road, died Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Maria Parham Health. Born on March 6, 1941 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Bennett Tart and Lucy Alice Morris Parrish.Betty was formerly employed at Maria Parham Hospital, a former private duty nurse, and was the nanny for Emily and Davis Harper.She attended South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis Short, Jr. of the home; one son, Curt Pegram and wife, Debbie of Henderson; two daughters, Lynn Pegram Menikos and husband, Pete and Lisa Pegram Tharrington and husband, Richard all of Henderson; one step-son, Brian Short and wife, Ann of Henderson; one brother, Joe Tart and wife, Elizabeth of Henderson; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Tart; and one sister, Jeanette Brame.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6 until 8 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as pall bearers will be Patrick Brame, Chris Brame, Clay Bass, Carmen Bass, Troy Adams, and Ben Hicks.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
