TOWNSVILLE- Mr. Billy Jordan Moody, 90, of 16535 NC 39 Hwy N, died Friday, December 29, 2017 at his home.Born in Vance County on August 1, 1927, he was the son of the late John Griffin Moody and Gertrude Owen Moody.Billy retired as a tobacco farmer in 1992 and was a veteran of the Untied States Army having served during WWII stationed in Germany. He was a member of Rock Spring Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon and also served on the building and grounds committee, as well as the cemetery committee.
Graveside services will be held Monday, January 1, 2018 at 1 PM at Rock Spring Baptist Church by Rev. Sam Brewer and Rev. Gary Brummitt.
He is survived by two sons, Randy Moody and wife, Carmen, and Stephen Moody and wife, Ellen all of Townsville; four grandchildren, David Moody, Cathy M. White and husband Matt, Jennifer M. Banning and husband, Martin, and Christy M. Carraway; nine great-grandchildren, Emma Lee Moody, Aaron Jordan Moody, Tyler Warner-Reed, Sam White, Sarah White, Trey Carraway, Brooke Carraway, Caleb Banning, and Caroline Banning; one sister, Anne Folgleman of Raleigh. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Emma Roberson Moody; two brothers, Willard Moody and Bernard Moody; three sisters, Nancy Bulluck, Sally Knight, and Carolyn Norwood.
The family will receive friends at his home on Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm and following the service in the Fellowship Hall at Rock Spring Baptist Church.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be David Moody, Aaron Moody, Matt White, Martin Banning, Randy Ball, Mike Moody, John G. Moody, Eugene Burwell, and Scott Burwell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rock Spring Baptist Church, c/o Tracey Moody, P.O. Box 96, Townsville, N.C. 27584.
