Billy Ray Stevenson

Billy Ray Stevenson, 76, a resident of Franklin Lane, died Monday, June 7, 2022 at Rex Hospital. Born on September 2, 1945 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Raymond Jones Stevenson and Annie Mae Darnell Stevenson. He was retired from Vulcan Materials, where he worked for over 40 years and attended Central Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Allen Mustian and Shawn Pegram. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens. He is survived by his wife, Linda Pegram Stevenson of the home; two daughters, Kelly Stevenson Kilbourne (Rob) of Arrington, Tennessee and Jessica Stevenson Ayscue (Jay) of Henderson; one son, Gregory Ray Stevenson (Angie Garcia) of Rougemont; six grandchildren. Brittanie Woolworth (Eric). Zach Kilbourne (Chasidy), Luke Kilbourne, Damon Stevenson, Kaylee Stevenson, and Izabella Ayscue: one great granddaughter, Isla Kilbourne; and one sister, Ava S. Ayscue of Epsom. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Anne S. McDonald, Irma S. Abbott, and Carolyn S. Riggan; and one brother, Sammy Stevenson. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Jessica and Jay Ayscue at 233 West Hills Drive, Henderson, NC 27537. Serving as active pall bearers will be Shawn Pegram, Christopher Pegram, Jason Abbott, John Taylor, Tony Harris, and Ray Branch.
