HENDERSON-Birdie Roberson Travis, 83, of Coble Boulevard, died Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Maria Parham Health. Born February 26, 1942, in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Mildred Pegram Roberson and Jessie Raymond Roberson and was the widow of Irvin Pruitt and Jimmy Travis. Birdie formerly worked with Meals on Wheels as a food program assistant. She was a member of Freedom Life Church of God. Birdie loved life. She loved her Lord and Savior. She always said, “the Lord is going to take care of me.” That was how she lived, regardless of what came her way. She would not hesitate to invite people to church. She loved collecting angels, her collection includes close to 50. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 15, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Freedom Life Church of God by Rev. Jeff Prewer. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens. Mrs. Travis is survived by her daughter, Darlene Best of Roanoke Rapids; her son, Hartwell Wayne Pruitt of Henderson; four grandsons; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Brame and husband, Larry of Henderson and Joyce Dickerson of Oxford; two nephews, Billy Dickerson and wife, Jorie and Charles “Chuck” Brame; a niece, Michelle Brame; and two special friends, Peggy Hudson and Jerome Smith. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday beginning at 1:00 P.M. at Freedom Life Church of God and at other times at the home of Elaine and Larry Brame, 1079 Eastern Blvd, Henderson, NC 27537.
