Brenda Cole Ayscue

Brenda Jean Cole Ayscue of the Gillburg community, died Thursday, January 22, 2026 surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. 

Brenda is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years David B. (Doc) Ayscue, Mary Evelyn Ayscue of Winston Salem, Bonnie Elaine Ayscue Gatewood of Henderson, David B. Ayscue, Jr., (Jay) of the home, and one grandchild, Chelsea Elizabeth Gatewood of Holly Springs. Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Janet Woodlief Cole. 

Brenda was a 1973 graduate of Vance Senior High and a 1977 graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Employed by the Vance County School System, Brenda taught school before becoming a full time homemaker. A member of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church, Brenda was instrumental in organizing the church bell choir. Brenda’s creativity and artistic talent were evident in her involvement in church music and personal art and music projects. 

Visitation will be in the New Sandy Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M, followed by a celebration of life service in the church sanctuary at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
