Bruce Lassiter Franklin

HENDERSON- Bruce Lassiter Franklin, 71, of Oak Street, died Friday, March 20, 2026 at The Bridges on Parkview. Born January 2, 1955 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Helen Lassiter Franklin and Samuel Thomas Franklin, Sr. and was the widower of Pamela Hedrick Franklin. Bruce was an active member of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church, serving as an RA leader, Sunday School teacher, Deacon and former Deacon Chairman. He took part in volunteer mission trips to China, Honduras, Kenya, South Texas and Las Vegas. He also participated in numerous disaster relief and recovery efforts through his service with the NC Baptist Men, and he was a former Trustee of the North American Mission Board. Bruce retired from Peraton, where he was an information technology specialist. 

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 27, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. in the family life center of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church by Dr. Steve Brown, Rev. Tim Burgess and Rev. Joseph Franklin. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. Bruce is survived by his son, Jeremy Scott Franklin of Lexington, VA; two brothers, Samuel Franklin, Jr. and wife Sheila of Henderson, and Joseph Franklin and wife Susan of Travelers Rest, SC; two sisters, Diana Minta and husband Steve of Pawleys Island, SC, and Ruth Murphy and husband David of Raleigh, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 P.M. at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the New Sandy Creek Baptist Church Family Life Center, 1699 Weldon’s Mill Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
