HENDERSON- Mr. Bruce Allen Gupton, age 80, a resident of 1328 Pine Street, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Vance County on February 25, 1932, he was the son of the late William Joseph Gupton and Etta Ross Gupton Parrish.Mr. Gupton was a retired Veteran of the United States Navy, having served as a Protestant lay leader aboard various vessels.After his retirement from the Navy he was a disc jockey during the Gospel Hour for WXNC FM and also worked for Camper Products.He was a member of North Henderson Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at North Henderson Baptist Church by Reverend Brent Kasey.Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Mr. Gupton is survived by his wife, Harriet J. Gupton of the home; two sons, Henry L. Gupton and wife, Madge, and Steven Gupton and wife, Kimberly all of Henderson; a brother, Victor Parrish of Washington State; and three grandchildren, Emily, Gregory, and Madison Gupton all of Henderson.He was preceded in death by three brothers, William Joseph Gupton, Jr., David Gupton, and Ennis Parrish; and a grandson, Harrison Lee Gupton.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00PM till 8:30 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home, 1328 Pine Street, Henderson.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Mickey Jackson, Steve Jackson, Robbie Jackson, Michael Jackson, John Mark Sanders, and John Pendergrass.Serving as honorary pall bearers will be members of the North Henderson Baptist Church Mens Sunday School Class.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the family.
