HENDERSON- Carlyle Averett Morris, 93, of Dogwood Drive, died Monday, January 24, 2022 at Maria Parham Health. Born February 10, 1928 in Granville County, he was the son of the late Mae Averette Morris and Hunter Morris. Carlyle was a World War II Veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corps and was retired from Revlon. He was a member of First Baptist Church Henderson, the Laffman Sunday School Class and the Oxford Masonic Lodge #122 AF & AM. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church Henderson by Dr. Ronald S. Cava and Dr. Marion D. Lark. Burial with military honors will follow at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Rudder Stark-Morris, of the home; two step-sons, William L. Stark, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Henderson and James Keith Stark of Wilmington; a step-daughter, Elizabeth Stark Genshaw and husband, Mark of Collierville, TN; six step-grandchildren, William L. “Luke” Stark, III, Anderson Stark Jensen and husband, Michael, Sarah Stark, James Keith “Chip” Stark, Jr., Mark Steven Genshaw, Jr. and Anne Stark Genshaw; and dear friend, Gloria Richardson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lydia Brinkley Morris, his daughter, Patricia Ann Morris and his brother, Thaxton H. Morris. Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Worley, Luke Stark, Steven Genshaw, Mark Nesbit, Mark Genshaw and Charles Holland. Honorary pallbearers will be Micheal Jensen and members of the Laffman Sunday School Class. Due to Covid 19 concerns and potential inclement weather, no structured visitation will be held on Saturday, instead, floating visitation will be held at the home on Dogwood Dr. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Henderson, Audio Visual Ministries, PO Box 75, Henderson, NC 27536 or Enon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mike Adcock, 2298 Enon Rd. Oxford, NC 27565. Carlyle was a kind and gentle soul, a true southern gentleman, dapper dresser, and will be fondly remembered for his love of family, animals, National Geographic, and history.
