Carole Kerley Ellis

KITTRELL- Ellen Carole Kerley Ellis, 86, of Beechtree Trail, died Friday, June 2, 2023 at Maria Parham Health. Born April 26, 1937 in Vance County she was the daughter of the late Cassie Earline Woodlief Kerley and Claude Lyle Kerley, Sr. and was the widow of Robert Charles Ellis, Jr. She was a retired teacher having taught at C.G. Credle Elementary, Green Hope School, Aycock Elementary as well as in the Durham County school system. She was a member of Kittrell Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for more than forty years, was head of the social committee and was active in WMC. Her family and friends will remember her as the “sweetest, kindest woman ever.” A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 11, 2023 at 4:00 P.M. by Dr. Barbara Murphy at Kittrell Baptist Church. Carole is survived by her daughter, Catherine “Cathy” E. Willis and husband, Ian of Kittrell; and two brothers, Winston Kerley and wife, Phyllis and Claude Kerley, Jr. and wife, Barbara, both of Kittrell. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Charles Ellis, III, a grandson, Robert Charles and a sister, Mary “Pat” Kerley Merritt. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. at J.M. White Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
