Oxford – Carrie Frances Watson Averett, 92, departed this life in peace, November 7, 2021. She was born to Ernest and Claude Watson on May 16, 1929 in the Hebron Community. Carrie Frances was a long-time beautician operating her beauty shop at home for over 50 years. During this time, she became lifelong friends with many ladies of her generation from the post war years until her retirement in 2013. She was famous for growing her many beautiful flowers and her passion for arranging those into works of art. For decades she placed her arrangements on the alter at church for Sunday services. A loyal member of Corinth Baptist Church, she served as choir director for many years. A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00PM at Corinth Baptist Church by Rev. Neil Woodlief and Rev. Gary Brummitt. Carrie Frances is survived by two sons, Frank Averett (Kathryn), and Ernie Averett (Phyllis); beloved grandson, Charlie Averett and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. Carrie Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, E.B. Averett, Jr. Also, she was preceded in death by all eight siblings: Macy Watson, Felix Watson, Ruby Denny, Coleman Watson, Bradford Watson, Jesse Watson, Elsie Lee Denny and Willie Belle Preddy. The family will receive friends following the service at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. Anyone wishing to view Carrie Frances may do so from noon until 6:00PM on Tuesday at J.M. White Funeral Home.
