HENDERSON- Cathy Jean Farmer Thompson, 74, of Ruin Creek Road, died Friday, April 18, 2025 at UNC Rex Healthcare. Born August 18, 1950 in Fayette County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Marie Carter Farmer and Walter Farmer. Cathy was a beautician at Stylees Beauty Salon. She enjoyed crafting, dancing and shopping. She was a member of Zion Methodist Church where funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. by Rev. Gill Wise and Rev. Shelton Burkart. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Cathy is survived by her husband, Chubby Lee Thompson of the home; her daughter, Susan Rebecca Stallings (Mike) of Henderson; her son, John Carter Stallings (Holly) of Henderson; her step-daughter, Joy Wrenn (John) of the Watkins Community; her step-son, Travis Thompson (Cindy) of Oxford; four grandchildren, Catherine Marie Stallings, James William Stallings, Jr., Jamie-Lynn Marie Stallings and Allyson Nicole Stallings; seven step-grandchildren, Seth Abbott Thompson, Erin Paige Thompson, Cecelia Elaine Wrenn; Mollie Olivia Wrenn; Meredith Paige Sossamon, Maddison Leigh Sossamon and Payton Elizabeth Overby; two step-great-grandchildren, Paislee Elizabeth Hunt and Santana “Byrd” Howard; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James William Stallings, Sr.; her first husband, Ervin Holt Stallings, Jr.; her brother, Robert Farmer; and her sister, Barbara “Cookie” Rhodes. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at J.M. White Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
