HENDERSON-Charles William Briggs, age 79, a resident of 7749 NC 39 Hwy. North, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at his home.Born in Vance County on April 21, 1931, he was the son of the late Jasper Lowe Briggs and Millie Woodlief Briggs.Charles was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War.He was self-employed, and was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am at Island Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Marshall Neathery.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Etta Guerrant Briggs of the home; one son, Mitch Briggs of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Graham Briggs and Rachel Briggs; and one brother, Jerry Briggs of Rocky Mount.
The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 7749 NC 39 Hwy. North.
Serving as active pall bearers will be John Moseley, Dale Pernell, Danny Stanton, Billy J. Stanton, Will Stanton, Stan Briggs, Randy Riggan, Terry David, Lawrence Cotton Clayton, Alton Clayton, Bob Morgan, Billy C. Stanton, Andy Davis, and Steve Meeks.
Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
