OXFORD- Charles Castello Loughlin, III departed this life on October 20, 2020. Affectionately known as "Gonemo", he was born July 28, 1938 to Charles C. Loughlin, Jr, and Frances E. Loughlin in Henderson, NC, being one of the descendants of the famous Castello-Loughlin Circus Family.
Charlie Graduated from Henderson High School, Class of 1956, where he was voted "Best Dressed" by his peers, having clothes for every occasion. After high school he went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC.
His very lively career consisted of Co-Owner of Loughlin City Taxi/The Smoke Shop, Food and Beverage Director for the Holiday Inn and then later owner of The Money Man Jewelry Exchange in downtown Henderson, where his roots were deep. Known for his dry wit and flamboyant personality, he was a true legend that will live on forever with all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his son, Charles C. Loughlin, IV "Chip" and wife Stephanie of Henderson; granddaughter, Brooke L. Denton and husband John of Franklinton; a great granddaughter, Loughlin Denton; his sister, Frances L. Ellington along with three special nephews, Dr. Jerry N. Ellington, Jr., Mayor Eddie Ellington, and Dr. Johnny Ellington.
There will be a private family memorial and Charlie’s ashes will be scattered along the Alligator River, NC where he spent many fond memories with his father, family and friends.
