HENDERSON-Charles Lewis Gardner, 74, a resident of 488 Club Pond Road, died Sunday,
October 15, 2017 at Duke University Hospital.Born on February 5, 1943 in Edgecombe Co., he was the son of Harvard Batchelor Gardner of Rocky Mount and the late Dorothy Louise Braswell Gardner.
Charles was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving in Vietnam, and was the owner and operator of Charles Gardner Construction Co.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 22, 2017, at 2 PM in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ronnie Matthews.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Stainback Pace Gardner of the home; one daughter, Donna Sue Currin (Dennis) of Henderson; one son, Bobbie Scott Gardner (Susan) of Youngsville; two grandsons, Thomas Kyle Yates and Cody Lewis Gardner; two great grandchildren; one sister, Linda McAllister of Richmond, Virginia; one uncle Lewis Braswell of Knoxville, Tennessee; and three step-sons, Mark Pace, Jeff Pace (Michele), and Mack Pace.He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Ann Leary.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at J. M. White Funeral Home.
At other times they will be at the home.
