Charles Stephen Hawley, age 73, a resident of Henderson, died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at his home.Born on January 16, 1938 in Sampson County, he was the son of the late Stacey C. Hawley, Sr. and Mamie Smith Hawley.He served in the United States Army, and was retired after 31years with the State of North Carolina and 15Years with Vance County.Mr. Hawley was a lifetime member of Bethesda Friends Church in Dunn.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Peterson Hawley of the home; one daughter, Regina Hawley Hilliard of Henderson; three sisters, Peggy H. Warren of Erwin, Betty H. Jackson of Roseboro, and Basha H. Lewis of Fayetteville; one brother, Billy Hawley of Fayetteville; and two granddaughters.He was preceded in death by one son, Marty Stephen Hawley; three brothers, Stacey C. Hawley, Jr., Robert Harper Hawley, and Wyman Hershel Hawley.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Craig Crouch, Jason Crouch, Trent Crouch, John Peterson, Herman Breedlove, and Curtis Brame.
Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
