HENDERSON- Charles William Hilliard, Sr., 83, of Spring Valley Lake Road, died Wednesday, August 05, 2020 at Maria Parham Health.Born in Vance County on June 11, 1937 he was the son of the late William Thomas Hilliard and Mary Wynne Hilliard.Charles was a Veteran of the Army National Guard, retired from Roses Stores, Inc. and volunteered with Rebuilding Hope.He was a member of North Henderson Baptist Church where he formerly served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director and was a member of the David Stokes Sunday School Class.
A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM at Sunset Gardens by Rev. John Mark Sanders and Randolph Wilson.
Charles is survived by his wife, Ann Harper Hilliard of the home; his daughter, Cindy Hilliard Pruitt (Kevin) of Henderson; two sons, Charles William Hilliard, Jr. (Krista) and Mark David Hilliard (Susan) both of Henderson; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Frances H. Hayes of Henderson and Blanche H. Strayhorn of Hillsborough.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, a great granddaughter and a brother, Ray Thomas Hilliard.
The family will receive friends at the home, 1785 Spring Valley Lake Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
Anyone wishing to view Mr. Hilliard may do so on Friday from noon until 5:00 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Hunter Pruitt, Powell Wilkins, Brent Godwin and Joshua Stallings.Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the men of Rebuilding Hope.
