Charles William Jones, age 83, a resident of 1061 158 By-Pass, died Sunday November 11, 2012 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on October 2, 1929 in Warren County, he was the son of the late William Henry Jones and Effie ONeal Jones. A Veteran of the United States Army, he served during the Korean War.He was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. He was retired from Roses Trucking and after his retirement he was a motor carrier for Boyd Honda in Oxford.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Poplar Creek Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Tony Evans. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery in Townsville.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley VanDyke Jones of the home; a sister, Dorothy J. Whitley of Boydton, VA; two special sisters-in-law, Nancy V. Parker of Enfield, CT and Irma V. Ellington of Henderson; his faithful companion, Lady and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM in the Popular Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.At other times they will be at the home at 1061 158 By-Pass.
Serving as pall bearers will be Allen Hester, Joe Stepusin, Hill Smith, John Pecora, Charles Chewning, Maurice Boyd, David Eaton, and Chester Roberson.
