Charles Parsons Smith, age 93, a former resident of South Cooper Drive, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014, in a local nursing home.Born in Vance County on November 18, 1921, he was the son of the late Charles Sumner Smith and Elizabeth Parsons Smith.He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and was a retired data clerk at Capital Hill Hospital in Washington, DC.
A memorial service will be held at Plank Chapel United Methodist Church at a later date by Dr. Carolyn Roy.Burial will be in the Plank Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews Beverly Smith Thompson and husband, Gene , Sumner Michael Smith, Timothy E. Smith and wife, Midge, and William Kerry Smith all of Henderson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at the home of Beverly and Gene Thompson at 1072 Gillburg Road, Henderson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Sumner Smith.
