Charles Burroughs "C.B." Reavis, age 86, a longtime resident of Dothan, died Tuesday night, December 21, 2010 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan AL.
Mr. Reavis was born April 27, 1924 in Vance Co. and was the son of the late Madeline Hoyle Reavis and George Raymond Reavis, Sr.
After his high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during World War II. Following his discharge, he attended the University of North Carolina where he received his BS in business. He then began his career with J.C. Penny in Kingsport, TN and transferred to various locations before moving to Dothan in 1969. Mr. Reavis retired in 1984 after more than 40 years of service.
He was an avid golfer, a member of the Dothan Rotary Club, Woodmen of the World, the American Red Cross and Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church where he served as Deacon.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Flat Rock Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Pam Gilliam.
He is survived by one daughter, Karen Reavis Jones of Newnan, GA; six sisters, Ann Creech,Nancy Barker, Frances Tucker, Jane Wallin, Carolyn Bullock, and Rose Power; four brothers, Harold Reavis, John Reavis, George Reavis Jr., and Hoyle Reavis.
Mr. Reavis is predeceased in death by his wife, Josie Bert Reavis; a brother, Page Reavis and a sister, Helen Kay Reavis.
