HENDERSON-Charlie Ray Burgess, Sr., age 51, a resident of 975 Julian Smith Road, died Thursday, September 12, 2013, at MedCenter in High Point.He was Born in Union County, SC on March 29, 1962 and was preceded in death by his father Charles Parker Burgess, his mother, Grace Joplin Deese, and his step-father, Preston Deese.
He was employed as a truck driver for William T. Allen Trucking Co. and attended South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Lynn Lewis Burgess; one daughter, Amanda Burgess; one son, Chuckie Burgess, and one granddaughter, Emilye Lynn Burgess all of the home; three sisters, Betty B. Janson of Charleston, SC, Rita B. Winters of Henderson, and Vickie B. Goforth of China Grove, NC.
Serving as active pall bearers will be William Buster Roberts, Jamie Perkinson, Curtis Buck Lawless, Cameron Burgess, Tommie Stallings, Scottie Stevenson, Charles Orr, Rob Bloss, and Kenny Kidd. Serving as honorary pall bearers will be Sam Phillips, Curtis Sanford, and Ferrell Dixon.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contributions be made to the Charlie Ray Burgess, Sr. Funeral Fund, c/o J. M. White Funeral Home, 60 Zeb Robinson Road, Henderson, NC27536.
