HENDERSON- Charlotte Marie Brooks Bennett, 85, of Stagecoach Road, died Sunday, May 10, 2020 at a local nursing home.Born in Granville County on September 26, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Earl Crawford Brooks and Ella Frances Buchanan Brooks, and was the widow of John Thomas Bennett, Sr.Mrs. Bennett retired after 47 years from Bank of America where she worked as an administrative assistant. She was an active member of Island Creek Baptist Church; she taught Sunday school, was a member of the WMU of which she was a former President, sang in the choir and was involved with Vacation Bible School.
A private graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM by Rev. Johnny Yount and Rev. J. Marshall Neathery.
She is survived by two sons, John Thomas "Tommy" Bennett, Jr. and Ronald Earl Bennett and wife, Cindy, all of Henderson; granddaughters, Lauren Roberson and husband, Colin and Kayley Bennett; grandson, Jared Bennett; step granddaughter, Ashlynn Caines and husband, Jeffrey; two great-grandsons, Benjamin Caines and Luke Caines; one sister, Mildred Brooks Oakes of Oxford; one sister-in-law, Ellen Bennett Hughes and husband, Dennis of Garner; and two loving caregivers, Dorothea Cheek and Ruth Sneed.
The family will receive friends at the home of Ronald and Cindy Bennett, 3180 Stagecoach Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Island Creek Baptist Church, 950 Stagecoach Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
