Chester Clarence Pulley

Chester Clarence Pulley, age 86, a resident of 1641 N. Chavis Road, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at his home.Born on April 1, 1926 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Clarence Pulley and Eva Hight Pulley.Chester was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Force serving during World War II.He was retired from the Department Of Transportation and was of the Baptist Faith.He was a founding member of the Kittrell Volunteer Fire Department where he held many positions.
Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at Union Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dennis Gossett.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janie Kearson Pulley of the home; two daughters, Carol P. Slaughter and husband, Wilbur of Oxford, and Linda P. Cameron and husband, Rex of Kittrell; one son, Lawrence K. Pulley and wife, Deborah of Kittrell; one sister, Shirley P. Stallings of Oxford; five grandsons, Richard Gay and wife, Cathy, Jamie Gay and wife, Tracey, Thomas Cameron, Michael Pulley, and Matthew Pulley; great grandchildren, Keith Gay, Clarissa Gay, and Ashley Gay; two step great-grandsons, Caleb Ellison, and Tristan Ellison; and a special friend and caregiver, Mary Jones.He was preceded in death by one brother; Thelbert F. Pulley.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Richard Gay, Jamie Gay, Thomas Cameron, Michael Pulley, Matthew Pulley and Keith Gay.
The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home in Kittrell.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Kittrell Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Billy Fleming, PO Box 421, Kittrell NC, 27544.
